STAFF - KIRSTEN OGDEN

Dr. Kirsten E. Ogden, Faculty Advisor

Dr. Ogden's job as faculty adviser is to help students learn the ins and outs of online and print magazine production, including writing, editing, and critical reading skills for literary magazine production, as well as grant writing and fundraising. Plus, it helps if the staff has fun while they're working hard. This is Dr. Ogden's 3rd year serving as faculty adviser after taking over for Prof. Chris McCabe who retired after serving as the Inscape Adviser for over a decade.

Dr. Ogden is Associate Professor of English and chair of the Creative Writing Committee at Pasadena City College. She is a former judge for the Flannery O'Connor National short-fiction prize, a Peter Taylor Poetry Fellow for the Kenyon Review and is an occasional blogger for Kenyon Review Online where you'll see many of her articles as well as interviews with writers like Jimmy Santiago Baca, Mike Rose, and Louisiana poet laureate Jack Bedell. A multi-genre writer, Dr. Ogden has been published most recently in Louisiana Literature, KRO: Kenyon Review, Sand Hill Magazine, and Claudius Speaks. A poet-laureate of Gambier, Ohio, she spends her summers teaching high schoolers in the Young Writers program at Kenyon College. She is the previous editor for Prism Review, a national literary journal, and she helps to coordinate the PCC Writer in Residence and Visiting Writers series. Visit her online at kirstenogden.com.
