Poetry

SLITHER AWAY
By Michael Jaburian

Disguised within the trail
Scales fresh as old skin sheds,
The snake rattles its tail.
I walked up to it then backed away
Warning me and others,
The snake rattles its tail.
It blocked our path
So we let it be,
The snake rattles its tail.
Visitors to its home
We waited long for the snake to slither away
The snake rattles its tail
After 10 minutes of a break
The snake finally allowed us to pass,
The rattlesnake slithers away.

Michael Jaburian, 20, is a Pasadena native and UCSB student who loves nature, music, and writing.
