Dead-Beat Dads

Little girl questions the family portrait
of Mary and baby Jesus
on a Christmas card trimmed in glittering gold.
She wants to know where the dad
of the tan baby is
and traces the golden disc above his head.
Her mother explains that God is his father
but lives far away.
She nods and smiles Jesus is just like me
