Everyone Fantasizes Being Loved by a Poet

Adrian Ernesto Cepeda

But the reality of having to wait
while they attract the latest lines,
as he loves dancing with body
of his new poem, and romancing
vixen rhymes in his head, while
she waits overshadowed as the poet
searches for the perfect line break,
jealous of the climax, she envies
the paper, the keyboard, the pen,
and wishes his fingers would crave
to be his first choice, she feels
misread, always overshadowed when
the computer screen receives
more attention, as the verses
are the one he loves more
gushing his ink over pages
she, wishing her poet would lust
coming to bed, will she ever
understand, the poet’s eternally
devoted of retouching
the unfinished volumes in his mind
as she waits longing for him
to focus on her spine, while
he lives for those nights,
when the perfect line loves
seducing him instead.
